Round-table discussions on research funding

The round-table discussions allow postdocs, Clinician Scientists and life scientists to explore specific topics related to research funding and academic career development.

„Success Factors for a Research Career – Advice from a Leibniz Prize-Winner“ 23.06.2022

 

 

The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, which is endowed with up to EUR 2.5 million, is the most important research award in Germany and is awarded annually by the DFG. Prof. Marco Prinz was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2020 for his outstanding work in the field of neuroimmunology. In this round-table discussion Prof. Prinz talked about the secrets to his successful research career and circumstances that are important in facilitating cutting-edge research.

 

„How to boost your academic career: Tips from successful scientists" 17.09.2019

  
      
 

 

The event provided a forum for information and exchange for early-career researchers about their academic career development. Successful scientists talked about funding opportunities in the transition from early-career researcher to leading researcher and shared their personal experience of moving to the next career steps.

The aim of the event is to discuss what early-career researchers should consider in order to become a PI in a Research Consortium such as CRC (Sonderforschungsbereich), RTG (Graduiertenkolleg) or Cluster of Excellence.

„Forschungsförderung in der medizinischen/klinischen Forschung“ am 09.10.2017

 

The event was geared towards Clinician Scientists and postdoc medical scientists and took place on 9 October 2017 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Department of Medicine. Professor S. Fichtner-Feigl, Medical Director of the Department of General and Visceral Surgery, and Professor R. Thimme, Medical Director of the Department of Medicine II, presented.

The event was geared towards postdoc medical scientists and took place on 21 November 2016 from 12:30 pm until around 3:30 pm at the Department of Medicine. Professor K. Krieglstein (DFG Review Board 206-01, Molecular Neuroscience and Neurogenetics) and Professor J. Hennig (DFG Review Board 205-32, Biomedical Technology and Medical Physics) presented.

The event was geared towards postdocs and early-career research group leaders in the life sciences and medicine and took place on Monday 18 April 2016 from 1:30 pm until around 6:00 pm at the Neurozentrum, conference rooms 1 and 2, ground floor.
