Ethical Aspects

Clinical and biomedical research can give rise to conflicts between the patient’s well-being and the research interest. The Ethics Commission of the University of Freiburg gives advice and assesses ethical and legal aspects regarding the planning and conducting of medical research on living and deceased people.

In 1964 the World Medical Association (WMA) published a statement on ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects, identifiable human material and identifiable data. These principles still serve as guidelines:
