Ethical Aspects

The pursuit of research interests in addition to patient welfare may give rise to conflicts of interest in clinical and biomedical research. The Ethics Committee of the University of Freiburg  provides advice and assistance on the ethical and legal aspects of planning and conducting medical research on the living and deceased.

In 1964, the World Medical Association (WMA) published a statement on ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects, identifiable human material and identifiable data. This document still serves as guidelines for research to date:

Research Data

Research data is an essential foundation for scientific work. The long-term archiving and accessibility of research data contributes to the traceability and quality of scientific work and enables researchers to carry on work begun by others. The purpose of the following guidelines and principles is to maintain the high-quality of research institutions as well as to promote its productivity and competitiveness.
