European Cooperation in Science and Technology – COST

Programme Desription

COST is an international initiative in the field of scientific and technological research and aims to coordinate research efforts that are funded by national research programmes.

COST enables researchers to set up their interdisciplinary research networks in Europe and beyond in a bottom-up approach implemented through a continuous open call.

COST provides funds for organizing conferences, meetings, training schools, short scientific exchanges and other networking activities in defined topics in a wide range of scientific areas. COST aims to unlock the full potential of science “by creating open spaces where people and ideas can grow”. The staff and research funds come from national funding or third-party funds and are not financed by COST.

Applicants should notice the current conditions for eligible proposals for new COST Actions and follow the SESA guidelines.

General information on COST is available here.

Applicants should also refer to information about COST provided by the Project Management Agency DLR.

This refers, for example, to projects such as various ERA-NET, Joint Programming Initiatives and the Eurostars programme.
