Brigitte Schlieben Lange Programme of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg for Female Junior Scientists with Children
The Schlieben-Lange-Programme is addressed to women with children who want to combine their scientific qualifications with family tasks and—as the case may be—professional tasks, and who would like to start or continue their scientific work.
The promotional measure can support a doctorate or habilitation. The funding amount for a doctorate and for a scientific work is € 1,200 per month. For a habilitation it is € 2,400 per month with a funding period of two years.

UNESCO L’Oréal Funding Programme for Women Scientists with Children
The UNESCO L’Oréal funding program for women scientists with children, in cooperation with the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation, offers three grants of € 20,000 each year to promote excellent German female doctoral students with children.

The international UNESCO L'Oréal grants are awarded once a year to 15 highly qualified women scientists in the life sciences (biology, medicine, pharmacy, physiology, agricultural sciences, biotechnology and biochemistry) from all over the world.

Promotion of Young Scientists of the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V.)
Deutsche Krebshilfe e.V. awards grants for cancer research to doctoral students, postdocs and junior research group leaders after they return from abroad. In addition, an endowed professorship can be applied for.

Scientists can apply for the funding of their own position with the German Research Foundation (DFG)

Emmy Noether Junior Research Group Leader Programme of the DFG
The Emmy Noether programme aims to open up a path to early scientific independence for junior scientists. Graduated scientists attain the qualification to become university lecturers by leading their own junior research group for usually 5 years.
Postdocs with generally two to four years of research experience after completing their doctorate can apply. Applicants must have international research experience.

Support for the Own Working Group by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation
For outstanding junior research group leaders in medicine, biology and chemistry the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation offers the programme "Plus 3". The programme gives the opportunity to further develop an independent research profile and to achieve appointability.
Scope of funding
Applicants can apply for funding for their independent working group of between € 200,000 and € 300,000 per year for up to three years to continue their research programme. As an alternative, particularly outstanding group leaders who work in medicine can apply for an endowed professorship for five years. In both cases, the funding includes your own position as well as personnel resources for e.g. a postdoc and / or two doctoral students, a TA as well as material and travel materials.
