Office of the Dean for Research:Tasks

We are the first point of contact for the scientists of the Faculty of Medicine for questions regarding proposal submission, research funding and academic qualification after the doctorate.

 

Research Service (ForS)

The division Research Service (ForS) provides information and advice on intramural and national support as well as funding opportunities assists research consortia in the application process and raises awareness for "quality in research" as well as "good scientific practice". It supports research infrastructures and advises the faculty management in the development and implementation of strategic research initiatives. The following tasks fall under the responsibility of the division:

  • Advising applicants on funding programs and procedures as well as on formal and review aspects of proposal submission. We focus on the support of collaborative research proposals
  • Coordination of the submission of project proposals that require sustainability commitments and/or must be submitted with the signature of the dean or the rector
  • Information on current calls via website, newsletter and email
  • Events for scientists to inform about current funding opportunities, career paths and networking opportunities
  • Administrative office of the Research Commission and administration of the funding program of the Research Commission for start-up funding of research projects and clinical studies at the Faculty of Medicine
  • Administrative office of the Research Infrastructure Commission (FISKO) and administration of the research infrastructure funding programme at the Faculty of Medicine
  • Administrative office "Foundations and Awards" (“Stiftungen und Preise”) of the Faculty of Medicine
  • Research area management
  • Monitoring and evaluation of research and technology trends as well as of developments in national and international research funding as a basis for strategic structural and development planning in the area of research

 

EU-Office

The EU-Office supports scientists in the application and handling of projects in the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union, in other European and international programmes as well as in transnational calls for proposals. The following tasks fall under the responsibility of the EU-Office:

  • Individual advice on funding opportunities and formal requirements in the proposal submission
  • Support in budget planning and preparation of required application documents
  • Consulting for contract preparation and project implementation
  • Information about current calls and news for proposals via website, newsletter and email
  • Events for scientists with up-to-date information on funding opportunities

Academic Qualification Programmes (AkQua)

The division Academic Qualification Programmes (AkQua) supports postdoctoral researchers in their career development. AkQua coordinates various intramural and target group-specific funding and qualification programmes as well as the open course programme EQUIP. Furthermore, AkQua develops strategic measures for the qualification of scientists.
