Networking

Networking - be it professional or private - is an important part of every career and professional development. In order to support the expansion of your network, we have listed professionally interesting women's networks that could be of interest to women doctors and scientists.

 

Expert associations

  • Presence plays an important role in medicine and also serves personal and professional development. Our experience shows that membership in relevant expert associations is an advantage. In this way, you show your presence and are also always up to date.

AcademiaNet

  • The online platform AcademinaNet was launched by the Robert Bosch Foundation as well as Spectrum of Science. It is used to inspect and collect profiles of excellent women researchers and doctors from all disciplines, to increase the visibility of women scientists and to enable the search for women for management positions, bodies or commissions. For admission, certain criteria in the form of academic qualifications (publications, awards, research management) must be met. Furthermore, admission to AcademiaNet takes place on the basis of a recommendation from one of the partner organisations (e.g. DFG, Robert Bosch Stiftung, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft or Helmholtz Association).

FemConsult

  • Similar to AcademiaNet, FemConsult is an online database with doctoral and habilitated women scientists from German-speaking countries. The originator of this platform is the Competence Center Women in Science and Research CEWS, a work area of ​​the GESIS-Leibnitz Institute for Social Sciences. Special about FemConsult is that you can find qualified profiles of women from all disciplines as well as non-university research institutions, industry and business. FemConsult can directly create its own profile for women academics with a PhD or habilitation.

DÄB – Deutscher Ärztinnenbund e.V. (German Association of Women Doctors)

  • The Deutscher Ärztinnenbund e.V. (German Association of Women Doctors) is a network of doctors (all genders) from all disciplines and fields of activity. Common goals include equal career opportunities for women and men, family-friendly working conditions, health for women doctors and gender-specific health care. Furthermore, the DÄB offers a forum to enable the exchange of ideas, networking and discussion on health and occupational policy.
  • The regional group for Freiburg is represented by the Südbaden group.

 

DF – Deutscher Frauenrat (German Women's Council)

  • The German Women's Council is an umbrella organisation of 60 women’s organisations active throughout Germany, making it Germany’s largest advocacy group for women and gender equality. The DF has set itself the task of advocating legal and factual equality between women and men and promoting gender-democratic change. In the field of medicine, the DF pursues the goal of bringing gender-equitable medicine and women's health into focus and also advocates a redistribution of unpaid domestic and welfare work.
  • The country-specific counterpart is the Landesfrauenrat (State Women's Council) based in Stuttgart.

 

MWS – Medical Women Switzerland

  • The Netzwerk Ärztinnen Schweiz (Swiss Doctors Network) takes a direct look at the questions and problems to be solved that women doctors are confronted with in their professional and family life or on the career path. The network provides targeted information- and argumentation events additional to offering participation in seminars and coaching. Furthermore, the network prides itself on its strong networking activity, which includes the provision of advice on individual career paths.
