Start-up Funding

Start-up Funding by the Research Commission of the Faculty of Medicine

Priority is given to projects (start-up funding) that have the potential to secure external third-party funding, in particular from the DFG, in the foreseeable future. This must be clearly formulated in application, e.g. by submitting an application outline. Detailed information can be found here.

Start-up Funding for National Collaborative Projects

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) offers start-up funding to support the submission of proposals for Collaborative Research Centres (SFBs), DFG Research Units (FORs) and DFG Research Training Groups (RTGs) in order to boost third-party funding and strengthen research priorities. If you are interested, please contact the Office of the Dean for Research (, tel. 0761/270-72450) at an early stage.

Start-up Funding for EU Collaborative Projects

The EU office can provide financial support to researchers at the Faculty of Medicine for applications to the EU framework program Horizon Europe. Funds from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) may be used to reimburse a proportion of the costs associated with submitting an application. We strongly recommend that you contact the EU office () as early as possible to prepare your application.
